Isn’t that true?! Sometimes we think we are helping or trying hard to make a change in the relationship, but in the end we are helping the way WE want to be helped. If you are trying to give back, It’s not going to work that way. You have to ask your partner how they want to be helped, then follow through with that. After all, you are wanting to serve them and not yourself in this scenario.
Well said, Kelly. It applies to us as practioners as much as it does our clients. I particularly wanted to comment on all of the “how to” articles and the impossibility of finding accuracy there.
